Gone Hunting

Several Saturdays ago I drug my tired body out of bed relatively early and went hunting.

Not for lions…tigers…or even bears….

On this beautiful summer morning, I went on an expedition to find barns.  Not just any barn.  You can keep the shiny new high tech barns of the modern farmer.  I find myself in a blossoming love affair with old, weather-worn barns.

So after a healthy (ahem) breakfast at McDonalds, off I went into rural Marion and Delaware Counties of Ohio in search of these treasures.

I was not disappointed.  Feast your eyes on some of the beauties found.

I almost missed this gem hidden deep behind some foliage.

And this little one is my favorite.  I pass it each day on my way to and from work.  I think it has so much character.

Recently I came across a beauty in eastern Marion County that I am eager to photograph, if I can just find it again.  Hopefully, I will be able to share that with you very soon.

  1. Those barns are wonderful! I love that you went out and did this. I have wanted to do a photo shoot out and about with some of my favorite local scenes for some time. This encourages me! The third picture from the top reminds me much of my grandmothers barns. I remember my cousins and brothers jumping out of the door on top. Crazy boys. I really enjoyed this post, barns have such great memories!

  2. I love old barns. I have several favorites on our drive to Michigan each weekend. If they all could tell their stories...

  5. What a nice collection of barns in your neck of Ohio. I keep saying I am going to go out and capture some photos of some of our country side, but it has been so ungodly hot these past several weeks and just to walk outside to put fresh water in the birdbath is miserable. I know of several barns that need their pics taken, lol.
