Valentine's Day Tablescape

The snowmen from this tablescape had to go! This month's tablescape has a warm, romantic Valentine's Day theme. I broke down the table so it is round and intimate. I used two tablecloths, a red one underneath covered by white lace.

Disclaimer: There is nothing expensive about this tablescape. I did not use crystal, china, or expensive linens. However, it is very romantic, pretty, and cozy. The white plates, flowers, and glassware are all from the Dollar Tree.

I believe I have an unexpected guest for dinner.

I will be linking to Tablescape Thursday.

Valentine's Day Mantel

Hello Friends.

I worked on bringing a warm romantic feel to the living room mantel this weekend. With Valentine's Day less than a month away I am again embracing the deep reds into our house.

Frankly, the mantel sat bare for the past several weeks because I didn't know how I wanted to decorate it for the winter months.
My mantel is always difficult for me because it is so deep. It measures 18 inches (46 cm) deep. That is a lot of space to fill. It either looks too bare or too cluttered, making the room seem unbalanced. The good thing about using the color red is that a little goes a long way.

I didn't want to spend a lot on Valentine's Day decor so I decided, in keeping with my New Year's Resolution to learn something new, I would craft some new items. Thank goodness for my creative crafty blog friends such as Ami, Brenda, and Jen. They are such an inspiration.

First, I made this sweet garland, which helps pull everything together. It was so simple and I was able to do it while watching TV.
I bought a 3 yard (2.74 meters) piece of cording at Jo Ann's, choosing the least expensive since it wasn't going to show anyway. It took about 1 1/2 yards (1.37 meters) of material. I chose three different designs in red, white and pink. Simply cut strips of material and tie them around the cord.

For this vignette, I put together a simple floral arrangement in a milk glass dish I bought at auction last summer. I used white silk roses, and red hearts I purchased at the Dollar Tree. I coupled the arrangement with a snowman candle I already had and a sherbet dish filled with peppermint candy that was leftover from Christmas.

Candy continues to play a major part in this vignette. I used Hot Tamales and Good & Plenty to partially fill this vase and to hold a white taper candle in place. A little red ribbon finishes off the look. I bought the red glass piece at Hobby Lobby in their clearance aisle for less than $7. The pretty perfume atomizer was a Sweetest Day gift from Jordan. I scattered red silk rose petals to complete the look.

Mumkins

Recently I shared my mumkins with you HERE for Beth’s Pumpkin Party. I received a lot of comments about them so I thought I would do a short post so I can give you a better look.

I purchased them from my niece, Makayla and my friend’s daughter, Kenzie. They were both selling them for a school fund raiser. They are, by far, my favorite fund raiser item. I love Girl Scout Cookies and Boy Scout Popcorn, but after an hour (because I have no self-control) you have nothing to show for your money.

These wonderful mumkins last and the container may be used again the following year.
The quality of the mum is top-notch and the price is very reasonable. The small mumkin is $20 and the large is $25. I think that is amazing!

Look at how full they are.

When Halloween is over, you simply turn the pot and now you are decorated for Thanksgiving.

Halloween Arrives

Yesterday I started making changes to my fall
decor, transitioning into October and
preparing for Halloween.

I changed the mantle from this...

to this.

Three tin Jack-o-Lanterns offer toothy grins

Spiders certainly have been visiting
A Musing Potpourri a lot lately.

A spooky cemetery complete with ghosts.

The coffee table is much more friendly.

I moved this vignette from the
dinning room to the coffee table.

A couple of friendly ghosts
play in the pumpkin patch...

as this little scarecrow watches.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Hello Friends!

Have you noticed? The past few days, during my commute home in the afternoon, I've noticed the leaves on the trees are starting to change color. I love this time of year. The landscape changes from day-to-day. Around the house, the color scheme has changed hour-to-hour.

It's so much fun decorating for fall. In the coming weeks, changing a few items will transform the fall decor into Halloween and then Thanksgiving. There's so much to do and too little time in the day.

Here are some of the changes I've made this week.

I went from a very muted calm mantle...

...to a splash of fall splendor.

Have you met my maid?

She doesn't do windows...
It's hard to find good help these days.

I made my first attempt at a cloche for Marty's
Cloche Party this weekend.

A wreath (garland for Kath) adorns the front door.

My friend Lanila , from Fort Wayne,
made me this. Isn't it pretty?

A new centerpiece for the dining room table,

a planter for the kitchen table, and

sunflowers for the potbelly Stove.

Mumkins have been ordered and will arrive the first of the month. I'll let you know when the outside is ready for unveiling.
Have a fabulous autumn season! La

I am liking to the following parties:

Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch,

Consignment Shop Finds

Hello Friends!

The bedroom makeover is going well. It is 90% complete, but I am still waiting for a couple of things to be delivered. I have to say I am pleased with the results thus far. I hope to give you the tour later this week.

Meanwhile, I thought I would show you some things I found at my favorite consignment shop in Dublin, Ohio.

This hanging heart shaped basket is so pretty.
The picture doesn't do it justice.
This gold picture frame was only $1.50.
Look at that face!

Mystery Hint: One or more of these
items may be part of my giveaway.
Go
HERE to enter.
This piece was only $30.
It is old and in rough shape,
but with a little love, it will work
well in my bedroom.

I will be joining parties at Southern Hospitality, Debbiedoos Loves Livin in the Carolinas, and Coastal Charm. Come over and join in the fun! La

Revamped Thrifty Finds

Remember the old frames I bought at the flea market in Mansfield a while back? Let me refresh your memory...

Ahhh...now you remember. They were only $1 each, but were a little sad looking as they were. So, I showed them a little love last weekend. It's amazing what a little ivory and red spray paint, antiquing glaze, and chalkboard paint can do to liven something up.

Want an up close look?

I'm happy with the results. I wasn't done there though. I was spraying everything in sight with ivory paint. The neighbors black cat now looks like Pepe le Pew...

I jest.

I did however transform the pitcher I bought at a consignment shop last week. Remember the pink one?

From this...

To this!
I'm linking to Transformation Thursdays. Go over and see what others are up to.
