Hello Friends.
The year is slowly winding down to an end and we are faced with the wonderful possibilities a new year has to offer. With the new year, comes the ritual of making New Year's Resolutions.
This tradition dates back to Babylonian times. The Babyonians resolved to start the new year with a clean slate by returning borrowed items to their rightful owners.
Today, this tradition is carried on. Each year, millions of people resolve to lose weight, stop smoking, save more money, etc. However, most people fail to carry out their resolutions throughout the year.
How about you? I posted a survey on my sidebar asking about your resolution plans for 2011. Please take a moment to put your two-cents in.
Don and I started a Food Plan because DIET is a 4 letter word I refuse to use in my house. I'll be looking forward to reading how everybody else is doing.
ReplyDeleteFun to think about a resolution. All the ones on your list were good ones. I'm just going to keep on doing what I have been doing!
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's resolution has been not to make any, ha! Seriously though I just try to work on goals all year long!
ReplyDeleteHugs and Happy New Year,
Jacalyn
This is really interesting...I never knew the history behind resolutions other than I have never kept them! lol! Losing weight is my big plan and trying new things, definitely!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
This year I want to learn some new things...I've already signed up for a photography course, so guess I'm on my way to keeping this resolution! Hope you have a happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI always resolve to lose weight ..and it is usually a losing battle...but I try! :) I always like to learn new things so each year I try to do something new to challenge myself. I got some new camera lens for Christmas so I'll continue to work on my photography. A new year is a nice new beginning!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't make those resolutions because I never ever keep them. If I don't keep eating these leftovers I am going to need more than resolutions. I will take the survery. Happy
ReplyDeleteNew Year.
Aah, resolutions! I don't think I ever got into that. It would be so disappointing to fail each year - ha ha! Have a wonderful New Year, with or without any resolutions.
ReplyDeleteHello La,
ReplyDeleteyes, I always make resolutions but I am never successful with every. This New Year's Resolutions are to loose all the weight I gained last year and to blogg less (and work more on my next book).
I love your resolution and wish you success with it, because that is, what makes a life cheerful and happy.
Wish you a wonderful New Year with Health, Luck and Joy.
Greetings, Johanna
Hi La, You have left the sweetest comment by far on my blog. God Bless you. You inspire me. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteHi La! I hope your Christmas was wonderful! And..yes...I sooo need to start a diet...but I have to eat my collards and black-eyed peas first! lol Happy New Year!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteI've given up on starting a diet in the New Year! lol...I think I want to try and improve my mind instead of my body...

I'm trying to declutter my house. That's my hugest (is that a word?) resolution.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
BTW, I lived in Dayton many years ago. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon! It's how I feel some days.

I'm going to have to go with the Babylonians and look around for the stuff I borrowed. I'll just start with a new slate for most things, and try and finish some UFO's from 2010...I do have a few! I'm pretty sure when I finish a knitted sweater, I'll be able to return the needles and mark through Babylonian#1. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI don't follow through on resolutions very well. I like making them. I just need to remember to do them.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we wait until the beginning of the new year. silly animals, are we. Yes, I am resolving to have an extreme makeover. Heaven Help me!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the idea of starting off with a clean slate? Love resolutons, do I keep them... not most! But what a noble idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Happy New Year... and good luck with all of your resolutions!
Yvonne
That's the best kind of resolution because it's entirely within your power.
ReplyDeleteI read your list with pleasure. Why? Because I'll be 80 next year and I don't need to bother. My life is wonderful as it is. But I DO resolve to live another fun-filled year! Will that do?
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon and had fun doing your survey.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
=)
keep up the positive thoughts,
ReplyDeleteas long as you tried your best, no regret.
