Thrifty Finds at Goodwill & Swappers Day

Hello Friends.

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. The weather was wonderful here in Central Ohio, with sunny skies, steady breezes, and cooler temperatures.

Saturday morning I set out to Panera to buy bagels for breakfast. It just so happens that our Goodwill is directly behind Panera. What a coincidence I was going that way...or was it. I stopped in for a quick look at what is new. Here's what I found.

This mirror was $7, which is a bit high for GW,
but it fits the design I have in mind for
my den/sunroom makeover.

Only $1 for this cute tin of fall berries.

Three dollars for this silver server.

Sunday, I traveled to Johnstown, Ohio, which is a little over an hour away. I saw on the Columbus news, the night before, there was a huge swap meet being held at the Sportsman's Club with over 700 vendors. How could I resist? Off I went with my camera, of course. Like the Longest Yardsale, there were many yard sales, barn sales, and garage sales along the way.

I must say this was a different experience than the other shopping experiences I've had this summer. The main focus of this Swappers Day was the buying and selling of animals, guns and amunition. It was a bit odd for me to see people walking around with guns over their shoulders. There were fewer antique/vintage decor vendors than I would have preferred and I was disappointed there weren't many crafters.

There were tons of people there.

I saw dogs and bunnies for sale.
Good thing Jordan wasn't with me
or we would have a new bunny.

This gentleman was very talented.

Vintage bottles and mason jars.

Although the meet was limited in offerings appealing to me, I was able to find a few things to bring home. I bought some peaches from West Virginia.

Blue mason jar, which I will clean up and
store gumballs in for the kids, $3.

Holiday ribbon for $2.25, total.

Funky socks to use for sock wreaths (below).

Tomorrow, I will share some of the entertainment offerings at the Swappers Day.

I will be joining the following parties:

Rhoda's Today's Thrifty Treasures
Linda's Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays

Please visit these lovely ladies.

  6. You're so lucky! I once wanted my husband to stop at a 'yard sale' we were passing on our way into the mountains. I said, "Is that what I think it is?!?" and he said, "If you think it looks like a junk truck ran into a wall." Harumph! No fun, Charlie. :)

  7. So you didn't buy a coon dog? Looks like a fun time even if the vendors weren't what you thought.

  9. I love the silver server, La. I'm always looking for new pieces, wherever I go. Are you planning on going to the S'field Extravaganza? I thought I'd run up, say hi to Kathy, and shop a bit. I went in the spring and was successful. Of course, I want to do Country Living, too. I just can't stay home! LOL
