January Blues

Hello Friends!

It's time to get back to normal after the past few months of continual preparations, celebrations, and libations.

All the Christmas decorations are packed away for the year and It's time to settle into whatever winter has to offer us. So far, January has started mildly in Central Ohio. We've enjoyed three straight days of sunshine, which is unusual during the winter, and our temperatures neared 60* over the New Year's holiday.

Today, I want to share my January tablescape. Because winter is just beginning, I am dedicating January to the snowflake and snowman. I started with a crisp blue tablecloth with snowflakes, which I purchased at Kohl's after-holiday sale for a little over $10.

I coupled the tablecloth with blue napkins from my Wopat Auction stash, and snowman napkin rings I found at Kohl's for $1.49 each.

I used my mother's crystal plates and some glass buffet salad plates I also bought at the Wopat Auction. Between the plates, I placed a circle I cut out of royal blue tissue paper to add some depth of color. The glassware is from the Dollar Tree.

Each placesetting was completed with a glitter snowflake ornament I purchased at The Dollar Tree for 25 cents each.

For the centerpiece, I started with a silver platter I bought at ...you guessed it...the Wopat Auction. The cloche features three little glitter tree ornaments I bought at Walmart for 25 cents each. For color, I tied a blue napkin around the base and paired it with one of my non-catastrophic sewing attempts, a pillow and a taper candle.

  7. What a pretty winter table. I'm loving the Dollar Tree glassware. I have to get out shopping and get some after Christmas deals on some non-Christmas stuff. I need some snowmen and snowflakes I think.

  8. What a great wintery table...I am leaving all my snowmen up for a while too...they make me smile! It has been colder here in Southern California than there...strange...the high today should be 50 with rain and wind...Happy New Year!!

  9. Love the snowman and snowflake display.

I've left my snowmen up yet as our snow season is just beginning and will be with us for three to four more months.

  19. Im a new follower. I found your blog when you were featured on the Dollar Tree Facebook page.

I love the snowflake themed tablescape. I'm happy to see someone else decorate with snowflakes after Christmas. Our Sunday School class is having a get together in a couple of weeks and I am going to be using snowflakes as the party theme. I raided my local Dollar Tree's after Christmas sale and got all kinds of ornaments, garland, tablecloths and napkins. I can't wait until time to start decorating!!

  25. Very pretty! I love the blue!!! How on earth did you guys in Ohio get so lucky weather-wise for New Year's???!?! We were FREEZING here in the Kansas City area with temps dropping on New Year's Eve from around 45 to the single digits in just a few hours time. It was devastatingly cold!!! Happy New Year!!!

  28. It seems that I go through the tablescape buttons and choose the blue ones first. I really jump on them if they are blue and white. Love the entire scape. Especially love the tablecloth and napkin rings. I wish we had Kohl's. The nearest are in Hilton Head and Jacksonville. I see such cute things from there. What it Wopat's Auction? Is it a regular auction or is it a discount/club store? I am becoming your newest follower. Please visit me as well, although I am taking this week off. Need to regroup. Happy New Year. Ginger
