Hello Friends!
We've been talking about it for weeks now and it has finally arrived, Thanksgiving week and the beginning of the Christmas holiday season.
For me, this begins the big sprint to January 1. There's always so much to do (shopping, cleaning, decorating, baking, and wrapping) in a short few weeks. Therefore, I need to eat copious amounts of calories Thursday to fuel me for the big push. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
What are your plans for this long holiday weekend? Will you be going over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house? Will you be entertaining family and friends in your home? We will be going down to the corner and turning left to Brother/Sister-in-law's house.
Will you be fighting the crowds on Black Friday morning? If so, how early do you set out and do you fly solo or are you part of a well-seasoned shopping team? Have any crazy stories to share?
As for me, I fly solo on Black Friday morning, but I only go out if I see a big bargain on something on my list. This excursion is not for the light-hearted shopper or the browser.
Black Friday is not safe for browsers!
From what I've seen on BlackFriday.Com, I'm not sure whether I will go out or not.
Friday or Saturday, we will go to the tree farm and cut down our holiday tree. I love this tradition and can't wait to see what beauties are available this year. Last year, the farm had a HUGE, bushy tree with a crooked trunk. It's name was Charlie and he was only $25. Jordan wanted him, but I talked him our of it....because he is huge and has a crooked trunk. This past Friday, Jordan informed me that I told him if Charlie was still there this year, we'd bring him home. What was I thinking????
What are your plans?
I will be linking to Mosaic Monday
Happy Thanksgiving Week La! I'll be cooking on Thursday and spending all day Friday putting up my tree! Then decorating the house the next couple days. This is my favorite weekend of the year! No shopping for me, Christmas music, leftovers and maybe a Mimosa or two:@)
ReplyDeleteLet the games begin....Happy Holidays La. We'll be eating Turkey at my brothers and writing out the checks for Christmas on December 1st. With the way the economy is my sons appreciate their checks early and I know it sure helps their Christmas spirit. No shopping for me which is just as well I have lousy taste. Take care & have a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHello La,
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very nice Thanksgiving, lots of well oragnized time to do everything what is nescessary and to do all the things you want. And lots of bargains when you go shopping on BlackFriday.
Greetings, Johanna
La, have a great Thanksgiving weekend! I plan to hit some used stores with my girls to find more supplies and inspiration for our family's traditional "made" gifts. We don't do "new" unless we absolutely have to, lol. Score this week, a 25 cent make up bag from the fifties. Thank you for your sweet words on my blog.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I are selling at two different flea markets on Saturday and Sunday. So after stuffing ourselves on Thanksgiving and being with wonderful family and friends, we will be gearing up for the flea markets. Good luck with Charlie, can't wait to hear if it is still available and coming home with you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Jeanette
Hi La....I don't have to cook this year but do have to drive an hour to get to dinner at my son's house! I have never gone out on Black Friday but i was actually thinking about it this year....solo, like you. We will see when I get to Thursday night and if and when I set the alarm clock for an unwelcome time. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteNo Black Friday shopping for me.
ReplyDeleteJust hanging out, eating again, playing games, etc..
I love shopping the day after Christmas though!
No Black Friday for me. Maybe Cyber Monday! I abhor crowds and long lines. But hubby likes to go out...maybe I will give him a list.
ReplyDeleteWe are having company for dessert after the big dinner on Thanksgiving. So I don't have to go out...which is nice but I have all the cooking to do. I enjoy it though.
Wishing you a wonderful week and a Happy Thanksgiving, La!
XO,
Jane
I see Charlie in your near future! I am going to Cleveland on Friday to do the kid's science museum and the Rock & Roll thing. I don't know if I'll shop that day at all. I've been burned (and trampled) too many times on Black Friday, so I'm trying to ignore it this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to my daughter's and let her cook for me!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, La.
I can't wait to see your Tree! I love your tradition! Sounds so FUN!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
Love, Brenda
I cook the Thanksgiving meal every year and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated early this year as my daughter is traveling to Colorado on Wednesday to celebrate with her brother and sister-in-law and nephew. Since my daughter-in-law is expecting again they didn't want to fly here this year.
I did all my shopping by computer--love it! I have to mail everything anyway, so it's easier that way.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi La
ReplyDeleteI love your mosaic. Turkey dinner for 5 on Thursday. Driving on Friday to visit 89 year old mother. Take her a turkey leg. Home on Sunday and off to the races. This is my first blogging Christmas. I'm so excited.

I like that eating for fuel idea! It will just be my husband, son and me for Thanksgiving. My daughter is in Florida, the grands are with their mom and her parents. I'm cooking...but on a smaller scale. As for Black Friday...we haven't decided yet. We used to think it was fun, either it isn't anymore or we've gotten too old to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHope you have your running shoes ready! Sounds like you're going to be really busy! I am always happy when January comes around and I can catch my breath! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks great. We do shop and are usually out the door by 4 am....however it seems stores are opening so much earlier, we decide our plan on Thanksgiving day when the adds come out. Maybe it would be easier to stay up and start at midnight then come home at 9 am and go to bed ;) As if I could ever stay up all night again...there is not enough coffee in North Dakota!
