Oh Christmas Tree

Today, I'd like to share our holiday tree with you. Our Christmas Tree is dedicated to the young members of our family and those who are young at heart. We opt for a live tree and always bring it home the weekend after Thanksgiving. You can read about this year's A Christmas Vacation-like adventure here.

Jordan's birthday is December 23 so each year he gets a new ornament for his birthday. We also have ornaments from our summer vacations in New England, Florida, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

My favorite ornaments are the ones Jordan made in school.

My nephew, Jason (now 30) made this ornament in kindergarten. It still has a home on our Christmas Tree.

Years ago, my mother bought personalized apples with each of the grandkids' names for her tree. I have carried on this tradition and our tree now has 19 grand and great grandchild ornaments and the kids (big and little) love to hunt for their ornament on the tree.

From BJ to Jaxon

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
Thy leaves are green forever.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
Thy beauty leaves thee never.
Thy leaves are green in summer's prime,
Thy leaves are green at Christmas time.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Thy leaves are green forever.

I will be joining Joni's It's a Wonderful Life , Mary's Mosaic Monday parties, and Gina's Holly Bloggy Home Tour.

  10. Wow you got a beautiful tree, when I use to get a real tree, it always ended up looking like a Charlie Brown tree, I just could not pick them. The hand made ornament are my favorite also!

  15. I don't think Dan had very creative teachers- we have two whole things that he made in school! LOL They always hung on "his" tree in his room. I think it's fun to have a tree with an assortment of ornaments. You're lucky to have this and their memories!
I have always had themed trees, so I never had a collection of different things. Reminds me of the trees we had growing up! ~ Sue

  17. I love your tree and the special ornaments, My tree is the same way.. I dont have kids yet, but all of our ornaments are ours from when we were growing up and ones that we had on our tree growing up as well as a few newer ones. I love decorating it that way i feel that it is so much more pretty, and special, than doing a "themed" tree (although they are beautiful as well!!)
Thank you for commenting on my post I was so excited to show off my new nativity set!!!!

  19. I do envy your live tree -- we wimped three years ago, after about 19 years of live ones. My husband likes it better that way. I have a little tree with all those precious ornaments from the kids and all the traditional ornaments. What a great shaped tree you have. Thanks for linking up to my "It's a Wonderful Life" Party! 23. I still have our children's Christmas decorations, some twenty years later. They come out every year looking just a little tireder, but it wouldn't be Christmas without them!
Happy Christmas to you too and thank you for all your kind comments left on my blog.
