New Year's Resolutions

Hello Friends.

The year is slowly winding down to an end and we are faced with the wonderful possibilities a new year has to offer. With the new year, comes the ritual of making New Year's Resolutions.

This tradition dates back to Babylonian times. The Babyonians resolved to start the new year with a clean slate by returning borrowed items to their rightful owners.

Today, this tradition is carried on. Each year, millions of people resolve to lose weight, stop smoking, save more money, etc. However, most people fail to carry out their resolutions throughout the year.

How about you? I posted a survey on my sidebar asking about your resolution plans for 2011. Please take a moment to put your two-cents in.

I resolve to MAKE each day a good day
....even when it's not.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. Don and I started a Food Plan because DIET is a 4 letter word I refuse to use in my house. I'll be looking forward to reading how everybody else is doing.

  2. Fun to think about a resolution. All the ones on your list were good ones. I'm just going to keep on doing what I have been doing!

  5. This year I want to learn some new things...I've already signed up for a photography course, so guess I'm on my way to keeping this resolution! Hope you have a happy new year!

  6. I always resolve to lose weight ..and it is usually a losing battle...but I try! :) I always like to learn new things so each year I try to do something new to challenge myself. I got some new camera lens for Christmas so I'll continue to work on my photography. A new year is a nice new beginning!

  7. I usually don't make those resolutions because I never ever keep them. If I don't keep eating these leftovers I am going to need more than resolutions. I will take the survery. Happy
    New Year.

  8. Aah, resolutions! I don't think I ever got into that. It would be so disappointing to fail each year - ha ha! Have a wonderful New Year, with or without any resolutions.

  9. Hello La,
yes, I always make resolutions but I am never successful with every. This New Year's Resolutions are to loose all the weight I gained last year and to blogg less (and work more on my next book).
I love your resolution and wish you success with it, because that is, what makes a life cheerful and happy.
Wish you a wonderful New Year with Health, Luck and Joy.
    Greetings, Johanna

  15. I'm going to have to go with the Babylonians and look around for the stuff I borrowed. I'll just start with a new slate for most things, and try and finish some UFO's from 2010...I do have a few! I'm pretty sure when I finish a knitted sweater, I'll be able to return the needles and mark through Babylonian#1. Happy New Year!

  20. I read your list with pleasure. Why? Because I'll be 80 next year and I don't need to bother. My life is wonderful as it is. But I DO resolve to live another fun-filled year! Will that do?
