Baked Potato Bag and Giveaway Preview

Hi Foodie Friends!

Do you ever find yourself trying to pull together a dinner menu at the last moment?

You forget to take something out of the freezer or your plans change unexpectedly?

I commute one hour each way so I typically look for quick cooking options for weeknight dinners.  Consequently, baked potatoes are never on the menu. I love baked potatoes and making home fries with any leftovers, but Monday-Friday time is of the essence. I could throw some in the microwave, but I don’t like the texture of a microwaved potato. The skins get wrinkly and the flesh is either hard or mushy.

Have you seen one of these?

It is a microwaveable potato bag. I found it at the Fort Pierce Farmers Market when I was there in April. The potatoes come out with crispy skins and tender, fluffy flesh. YUM!

It is so easy to use. I simply wash and dry the potatoes and place them in the bag. Set the microwave for four minute intervals, and check for doneness after each interval. I can cook four potatoes in about 8-12 minutes.  I've also tried cooking corn on the cob in the bag and it worked beautifully. When the bag gets soiled, I simply throw it in the washer.

Best of all, the kitchen doesn't get hot from oven use or boiling water.

Guess what?

I bought two of these bags. One for me….and one for YOU!

It will be part of my

Mark your calendars and come back on June 28 to enter.  Better yet, come back tomorrow of another preview of what is in the package.

I am linking this post to the following parties:

Show and Tell Saturday

  1. That's a fun idea! I've never been too fond of the mic'd potatoes either, but yours in the pic looks great:@)

  2. Hi, La, thanks for your visit and kind comments. I am now following your blog. I have to get one of these! I love to microwave a sweet potato for myself every now and then. xo,

  3. That is neat! I have not seen one of these before. We used to sell the salad bags in the store that were made of terry cloth and they kept your veggies crisp. I love potatoes but not the time it takes to bake them well. I am putting your giveaway on my blog now so I don't forget to come back! How nice!

  4. I never heard of this bag and I'm excited to hear that it improves the quality of baking potatoes in the microwave --what a time saver and no need for a hot oven in summer.

    Happy upcoming blog anniversary, La!

  5. I have a baked potato bag. Someone bought it for me for Christmas a few years ago. It does work great!

  6. This sounds fantastic! I'd love it. Normally I microwave my potatoes for 5 minutes and then pop them in the oven for 10 to crisp them up. The bag is much more convenient though.

  7. I have seen those bags, but I have never used one! I hear that they work fabulous though.
Thanks for bopping over and entering my giveaway!!

  8. never heard of those bags LA
but like you, i don't like nuked taters!
enter me in your giveaway please :D

  9. I know what you mean about the difference between micro and baking a potato. Great giveaway:)

  10. No, I have never heard of one...Can't wait for your giveaway I would love to be the proud owner!

  11. I've never seen such a thing. I also prefer my potatoes in the oven or on the grill, but sometimes we do have the microwave variety. I can't wait to see the rest of the giveaway!

  12. What a great giveaway!! This is really a neat bag, never heard of one but it would be great to have.
Please put my name in the hat, thank you!

    Mary L

  13. I have never heard of these bags - what a great idea...I will be back to enter this giveaway!!
I'll be in Marion over the 4th for carter's 2nd b-day - we are going to the firework display in Columbus (my husband saw them last year but I stayed in NY to work). He said it is a wonderful show. I see you advertised gone With a Handsomer Man on your side bar - did you read it? is it worth me buying it?

  14. Cool La, very cool. Never have heard of them, but I sure love the idea. Thanks for the chance, count me in.

  15. La, what a wonderful idea for baked potatoes!! I don't particularly like making them in the microwave for the same reason you don't. Do you know if it works on "sensor"?
Later, Sweetie! And , oh, yea! I can see!!!

  16. I've heard about these. Sounds like they work great! Congrats on your anniversary too!
Thanks for posting my giveaway on your side bar.
