Baked Potato Bag and Giveaway Preview

Hi Foodie Friends!

Do you ever find yourself trying to pull together a dinner menu at the last moment?

You forget to take something out of the freezer or your plans change unexpectedly?

I commute one hour each way so I typically look for quick cooking options for weeknight dinners.  Consequently, baked potatoes are never on the menu. I love baked potatoes and making home fries with any leftovers, but Monday-Friday time is of the essence. I could throw some in the microwave, but I don’t like the texture of a microwaved potato. The skins get wrinkly and the flesh is either hard or mushy.

NOT ANYMORE!

Have you seen one of these?

It is a microwaveable potato bag. I found it at the Fort Pierce Farmers Market when I was there in April. The potatoes come out with crispy skins and tender, fluffy flesh. YUM!

It is so easy to use. I simply wash and dry the potatoes and place them in the bag. Set the microwave for four minute intervals, and check for doneness after each interval. I can cook four potatoes in about 8-12 minutes.  I've also tried cooking corn on the cob in the bag and it worked beautifully. When the bag gets soiled, I simply throw it in the washer.

Best of all, the kitchen doesn't get hot from oven use or boiling water.

Guess what?

I bought two of these bags. One for me….and one for YOU!

It will be part of my

  3. That is neat! I have not seen one of these before. We used to sell the salad bags in the store that were made of terry cloth and they kept your veggies crisp. I love potatoes but not the time it takes to bake them well. I am putting your giveaway on my blog now so I don't forget to come back! How nice!

  4. I never heard of this bag and I'm excited to hear that it improves the quality of baking potatoes in the microwave --what a time saver and no need for a hot oven in summer.

    Happy upcoming blog anniversary, La!

  6. This sounds fantastic! I'd love it. Normally I microwave my potatoes for 5 minutes and then pop them in the oven for 10 to crisp them up. The bag is much more convenient though.

  15. La, what a wonderful idea for baked potatoes!! I don't particularly like making them in the microwave for the same reason you don't. Do you know if it works on "sensor"?
Later, Sweetie! And , oh, yea! I can see!!!
